Not sure what’s happening with me on this one, but it seems like the more I listen to it, the better Quadrophenia gets. Quadrophenia stated simply is one of their best CDs to date.

Who have been a heavy hitters in the Rock genre for quite a while now and Quadrophenia is an excellent illustration as to why.

Quadrophenia has a pleasantly varied, mix of 17 tracks that are very well written and brilliantly performed songs by these clearly talented musicians. With many of the songs displaying a lot of the kind emotion that makes for a really great listen. Seemingly drawing from what I can only imagine are their own personal experiences. At different points touching on the most real emotions of love, heartbreak, pain, failed relationships and unattainable romance. They’re all here.

Overall Quadrophenia is an outstanding release. Quite possibly Who’s best to date. Really sensational from beginning to end. If you’re even mildly into Rock music you’ll enjoy this CD.

While the entire CD is outstanding some of my favorites are track 5 – The Punk And The Godfather, track 2 – disc 2 – Sea And Sand, and track 7 – disc 2 – Love, Reign O’er Me

My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 1 – I Am The Sea. This is a great track!

Ways to Download Music to Your iPhone And Save A Lot of Money

Ever since people began purchasing and using the iPhone, they have been trying to figure out how to download music to their iPhone without spending too much money. Today, people are still trying to find out how and are still spending a fortune in those pay per track music download websites. If you download regularly from such websites, you might want to try computing your expenses per year on the download. You may be shocked as the total amount of money may even get you another iPhone.

So, forget about these pay per track music download websites, and forget about P2P illegal music download websites. Here are some of the best ways on how you can download music to your iPhone without spending too much money and even spending nothing at all.

The first way to download music to your iPhone is by ripping your existing CDs to MP3 format. You will see that iTunes, which is the default software for iPhone in your computer, will be able to rip audio CDs to MP3 format. This way, you will be able to have an entire album of your favorite tunes without paying for it through pay per track music download websites.

Almost every large music download websites have free music available for download. In most cases, the featured artist will have a few music tracks available for download at no cost at all. Just visit the website, such as the iTunes store, frequently in order for you to take advantage of this great offer. Although you won’t get the entire album of the featured artist for free, you will be able to get a couple of the featured songs at no cost at all.

Some large music download websites offer freebies for new members. Try registering in music download websites that offer this kind of promo. However, make sure that you dont purchase a monthly subscription as this will make your credit card bill go sky high.

If nothing else is available, you should try looking for websites that offer unlimited music downloads for a one time annual fee. With websites like this, you will be able to download your favorite music that your heart desires. And, the best thing about this is that you will only pay a one time annual subscription fee. After paying it, you will now be able to freely download whatever music you want for the entire year without spending another penny.

For example, if the annual subscription fee is at 20 dollars and you are allowed to make unlimited downloads you will see that this will be very cheap compared to pay per track music download websites.

These are the ways on how you can download music to your iPhone at a minimal or no cost at all. Remember these tips and you can be sure that you will be able to enjoy listening to your favorite music with your iPhone without spending a fortune for it.

Dont download from illegal P2P websites as this is a dangerous way to obtain music. It may get you the music you want for free, but it has its risk. Not only that you may get in to trouble with the law, but it will also mean that you are risking your computer in getting infected with computer viruses and spyware software.

The Human Voice – The King Or Queen Of All Musical Instruments!

There a one liner made famous in the old TV detective show Dragnet “the facts ma am. nothing but the facts.” I don’t know if Jack Webb was a musician or a teacher, but considering that the study of music is infinite I better take his advice.

I am in the “October” of my life and I think , I finally understand a least man-made music and his conception of it. Asking questions and reading books or any literature on the subject has sort of satisfied my quest for the “whys” of music. I have been practicing how to do this or that for years and years but the “whys” can set the creative mind to take off, so no more “can’t get no satisfaction….” Since the infinite is to deep for me, lets deal with man made music.

I have come to the conclusion that all man made musical instruments have to be in the range of the human voice, a little higher or lower thats O.K. If not, they will become obsolete.

The human voice has kept man made music earth bound and the amazing things it that it range or distance is on the average only two and one half octaves! That’s Johnny Cash territory and not Andrea Bucelli who really likes to stretch it, and its made him famous. The human voice is a marvelous instrument, the king and queen of all!

The well trained voice is fantastic with its ability to achieve its wide range of notes, like a diamond with its many facets. The fantastic Australian guitarist Tommy Emmanuel has composed a beautiful piece for guitar entitled “Angelina” but during the piece he hums in harmony with his finger picking and its beautiful. Check it out on Youtube.

My point again is the ultimate superiority of the human voice. Show me any instrumentalist, as good as he may be, that can match the drawing power of an Andrea Bucelli or your favorite who if he or she is real good can fill a stadium! So the bottom line is I like to sing and have Tommy Emmanuel be my accompanist, whaoo! That would be awesome!

The human voice has another big advantage. The power of the spoken word. A great Speaker, let alone a great singer has a powerful tool at his disposal. It can get you emotionally. Listen again to the late Harry Chapin sing his wifes composition “cats in the cradle” or Roy Clarkes “Yesterday when I was young” These examples of favorite powerful songs are not sung very often because the singer has a hard time emotionally singing it. That words are that powerful. If you are not affected you will have to fake it, I guarantee it!

Well I have enjoyed this, but it time to start training the king. Hey, it very takes a lot of discipline, but its worth it! Thanks for reading.

In the turn of the century around 1920, many artists made their mark by playing in the discreet underground nightclubs known as “Speakeasies” which are high class , “Blind pig” lower class or “Smokeasy” for smokers. The United States once prohibited the sale of alcoholic beverages and smoking tobacco in clubs as a constitutional amendment. One could usually find an underground nightclub by the doors without a sign to indicate that there was such as establishment inside. Those dives also had a secret door that lead out to a passageway or alley in case the police came to investigate. The police had the power to arrest everyone in the place due to the fact that they were broke the law by being there.

However, thing were beginning to look up for Jazz Music once the invention of the record player or phonograph was made to play jazz albums. In addition, radio stations helped promote Jazz music, and made it popular among the public. Jazz Music became a music of class that earned the era a nick name known as the “Jazz age”. The band leaders who became famous as Jazz musicians were Paul Whiteman, Ted Lewis, Harry Reser, Leo Reisman, Abe Lyman, Nat Shilkret, Earl Burnett, Ben Bernie, George Olson, Bob Haring, Vincent Lopez, Ben Salvin and many more. Paul Whiteman claimed to be the king of Jazz music due to his popularity. He earned the title when he hired some white Jazz musicians with Bix Beiderbecke included to combine jazz with larger orchestrations.

In fact George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody In Blue’ was commissioned by Whiteman as his debut for the orchestra.

Ten years after Jazz music became popular it was reinvented into a style that would be suitable for radio and dancing. This style was known as “Swing” which allowed musicians to improvise their own interpretation of the melody or theme that was sometimes difficult to do. In the Swing era Jazz bands grew into a larger size which was often referred to as “Big Band” music that would always feature a soloist.

The band leaders and music arrangers for Jazz music who became famous for this style of music was Cab Calloway, Duke Ellington, Earl Hines, Fletcher Henderson, Walter Page, Benny Goodman, Don Redman, Chick Webb, Jimmie Lunceford, and Jay McShann. During this time there were racial issues of segregation between black and white people, but it slowly died down enough for the white band leaders to find black musicians to perform with them. In the middle of the 1930’s Benny Goodman invited Teddy Wilson(pianist), Lionel Hampton (vibraphonist), and Charlie Christian (guitarist) to be a part of a group. Each musician learned from the style of other musicians in order to form their own. For example, Cab Calloway, Dizzy Gillespie(trumpeter), Bing Crosby (vocalist) were influenced by the improvising of Louis Armstrong. Later, the vocalists Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, and Sarah Vaughn joined the scene with Jazz Improvisation known as the scat. To Scat is to vocally imitate musical instruments using such non verbal language as doot ‘n doo bee yah bah loo bey doo ee ya boy lay bah doo doot ‘n doo yah doo doy.

In the beginning of the 1940’s Jazz music evolved yet again into a new style known as “Jump Music” which was upbeat music using blues chords performed by small music groups. These small music groups are the forms many bands make today. Later, another style of Jazz music came using the music of the 1930’s as an inspiration called “Boogie-Woogie” where the usual 4 beat bar section expanded into an eight beat bar section in the rhythm which Big Joe Turner took the lead in the 1940’s.

In the 1950’s, music reinvented again when turner turned to “Rock and Roll music”. As for the Swing era music it was reborn in the use of the modern dance trends. Kansas City made memorial for Charlie Parker in their American Jazz Museum that displays the history of the music and the people who made Jazz music what it has become.

The tiny Greek island of Paxos, with its groves of olive trees, secluded beaches and coves, and pretty coastal villages, has become a favourite destination for music lovers during its annual jazz and classical music festivals.

In June, the Paxos Jazz Festival attracts talented and well-known musicians from far and wide to perform in open-air, idyllic locations with perfect summer weather. And from 213 September 2006 the renowned Paxos International Music Festival features classical music concerts in Loggos.

Since 1986, this Festival has established a tradition of excellence in performance, and has developed a loyal following of visitors and locals. As well as presenting major works from the chamber music repertoire, the Festival has commissioned new pieces especially for the Island. These included We Shall be Here, for a thousand and a thousand more years, a cantata tracing the history of Paxos from its mythological beginnings to the present day and Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf translated into Greek. Now directed by the UKs Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the 2006 Festival will present major works by composers who have anniversaries this year, including Mozarts Clarinet Quintet; Schumanns Piano Quintet; a Bartok String Quartet and a Shostakovich piano trio. And Guildhall students and teachers will give five special concerts. For the first time in Paxos, singers will present a repertoire of songs and arias.

The cosmopolitan capital of the Island, Gaios, bustles with life at festival time and its harbour is packed with yachts and cruisers. Cafe bars and restaurants line the waterfront, nestled between charming villas with their Venetian architecture, and the island’s nightlife includes late-night music bars overlooking the harbour. At the waterfront terrace of Bar Taxidi, in picture-postcard Loggos, you might even find Spiros, the owner, making traditional music.

Some of the best accommodation on Paxos is to be found in the lovely little fishing harbour of Loggos but, be warned, with limited accommodation Paxos villas are in high demand at the time of the music festival so be sure to make your booking way in advance.

Very talented Rock artist Paul Westerberg has released his latest CD titled Stereo and Wow! It’s good.

I wish it weren’t the case but, it’s not everyday that I get a CD from an artist that I can just pop in and comfortably listen to from beginning to end. There is usually a song or two that I just can’t force myself to get through. Not at all the case with Stereo. Every track is enjoyable and was pretty easy for me to listen to from start to finish.

Rock music fans will recognize some of the well known contributors on the project including Paul Westerberg and Others plus a few other notables as well.

Listen to Stereo and I believe you’ll find there’s not much to dis-like about it. The songs are inspired, the production is simply outstanding, and Paul Westerberg is clearly in top form. So much so that if you’re even mildly into Rock music you’ll enjoy this album.

While the entire album is really very good the truly standout tunes are track 5 – disc 1 – Knock It Right Out, track 3 – disc 2 – Only Lie Worth Telling, and track 13 – disc 2 – Call That Gone.

My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 1 – High Time. What a nice track!

If you are planning a New Years Eve party, one of the most important elements of the party planning is the music you plan to play at the party. Making preparations for the food, beverages, entertainment, decorations, favors and other elements of the party are all very important but the music at the party are critical to the success of the party and can help to determine whether or not the guests have a good time. This article will discuss some of the options for music at a New Years Eve party and will provide information on implementing these options.

Hiring a band is one very popular option for providing music for a New Years Eve party. However, there are some considerations which should be mulled over before deciding to hire a band. One of these important considerations is the amount of space required for the band to set up and perform. This is important especially if you are hosting the party in your home. Before signing a contract with a band, you should have a representative from the band visit the space and determine if there is enough room available. The noise ordinances should also be considered when hiring a band for a New Years Eve party. Again this is most important if you are hosting the party in your home. When hiring a band you should also consider whether or not the band will appeal to the majority of the guests at your New Years Eve party. This is especially important if you will have guests from a number of different generations at your party.

Another option for proving music at your New Years Eve party is to hire a DJ to perform at the party. This is a good idea because DJs typically play a wide variety of music and are skilled at reading the audience and determining which types of music will appeal to the audience. They are also typically good at encouraging audience participation. Again, it is important to consider noise ordinances when hiring a DJ to entertain at your New Years Eve party. Your DJ will likely be aware of these ordinances particularly if he works in the area often but you should still discuss this with the DJ before signing a contract to ensure he will comply with these regulations.

One inexpensive option for providing music for your guests at your New Years Eve party is to be your own DJ. If you have an extensive CD collection, you can insert a number of these into a disk changer and set the changer to play randomly. Changing the CDs throughout the night will keep the music fresh throughout the party. Another idea is to ask each guest to bring five of their own CDs to the party. Each guest can then take turns playing DJ for a half hour to an hour. This is a fun way to provide music for your guests and also helps to ensure each guest will hear some music they enjoy during the party. Still another option for providing your own music during your New Years Eve party is to set up a satellite radio system and attach it to speakers. You can set the satellite to a station featuring upbeat dance music or music which accompanies the theme of the New Years Eve party.

Still another inexpensive option for providing musical entertainment for your New Years Eve party is to rent a karaoke machine and encourage the guests to provide their own entertainment. Karaoke can be a great deal of fun especially for a group of guests who are willing to participate in the fun. If you have a theme for the New Years Eve party, you can provide songs for the karaoke machine which relate to the theme. If there is not a specific theme for the New Years Eve party, you can select a selection of songs which are likely to be popular with your guests.

How many of you have gone to a concert and paid well over 100 dollars for a ticket? If you like a certain group you will have to pay well over a hundred dollars to go see them in concert. I love music and can’t afford to go to a concert so when I found out that I could watch a concert on a DVD I was very happy.

I caught the middle of am eagles concert on television one night. I love the eagles and I wanted to see the whole concert so I first looked on eBay for the concert on a DVD. The cheapest one I found was over 20.00 then there were shipping charges.

I know this probally doesn’t seem like a lot of money to most of you but my husband and I are on disability so we don’t have a lot of extra money to spend being on a fixed income. I always knew that you could go to Wal-mart and buy a movie on a DVD but I never thought they would have the eagles concert on a DVD. Well I was shopping one day and went to the musical section and found that same concert on TV on a DVD. It cost me only 11.00

I got home and was so excited to find out I could watch the eagles farewell concert on the DVD. I really liked a certain song of the Eagles and I missed the song when they were on television but now I had the DVD and it had all of the concert and extra bonus tracks on it. I don’t have to worry about a commercial and I can skip through any part I want.

I have also seen a repeat of the eagles concert on television and it didn’t have half as much on television as it did on the DVD. When I bought the eagles in concert I also got a booklet with the DVD that talked bout each member of the eagles band. These DVDs are absolutely wonderful. I can enjoy the comfort of my own home watching my concert rather then paying a lot of money going to the concert.

The time you have to try and get through the crowd of people and have to pay money for souvenirs and the cost of the tickets it is so much nicer to save money and feel comfortable in the privacy of your own home watching a DVD. I know a family member that spent about 500.00 for just 3 members of the family to see a concert live. I also know it was very hard to understand what they were singing because of all of the noise and the microphone.

I sure didn’t have any problems with the sound or picture watching my eagles concert on my DVD. So if you like a certain group look for a concert of theirs on a DVD rather then going to a concert. It will save you a lot of money and a lot of headache. I also want to mention there are musical DVDs available and the money you spend buying the DVD goes for a good cause. I have the We are the world DVD and all the money people paid to buy the DVD went for a very good cause.

Trying to fall asleep when the tap is dripping or the wind is whipping outside can be an effort in futility. Regardless of how hard you try, you just cannot get past the noise and fall asleep. A few minutes turns into an hour and it’s not just insomnia bothering you but you’re becoming angry realizing that the loss of sleep you are feeling tonight will have an impact on how you feel tomorrow.

One of the most natural remedies for insomnia caused by noise is actually more noise. That might seem difficult to believe, but it’s important to understand that the noise that you might need to sleep is specially prepared just for that purpose.

Studies have shown that certain sounds enhance the desire to sleep in people. The sounds might differ from person to person but in general they fall into several different categories. These sounds are then transferred onto a recording device and a consumer who is suffering from insomnia can purchase it. They are often referred to as sound machines or even noise machines.

The premise is that if a person hears particular sounds that are soothing to the body, it will help them drift off to sleep. Common sounds that are available are sounds of nature which many include birds chirping or water running. Another category of sounds that helps many people beat their insomnia are certain types of music. The music is designed to be relaxing and it’s often repetitive, so the sleeper falls into a deep state of relaxation which ultimately leads to sleep.

For someone who has trouble sleeping, a sound machine can be the ideal solution. It’s natural and it has no side-effects at all. The person using it will become accustomed to the sounds and they will eventually act as a trigger to help them fall asleep.

Purchasing a sound machine isn’t a difficult process. If you are comfortable shopping over the internet, you need just type in the words “sound machine for insomnia” in a search engine and you’ll find yourself perusing a wide and varied selection. There are also many retail outlets that now offer the machines.

If investing in a complete sound machine isn’t within your budget, you can still reap the benefits of the sounds of sleep without having to pay as much. Many companies have developed CD’s that you can purchase that help treat insomnia through music or recorded sounds. These offer many of the same sounds as a sound or noise machine and with these type of CD’s you can use a standard CD player.

This is also another way of experimenting with sounds and it also offers the convenience of being any to take your sleeping aid with you if you travel. Insomnia can occur whether you are at home, away on a business trip or enjoying a vacation. Always having the sounds that you sleep by with you will enable you to fight that insomnia night after night.
